Drawn from the local collection of Margaret and John Gottwald, this exhibition of mid-20th-century paintings, sculptures, and works on paper explores black artistic production and patronage through art previously in the collection of the Barnett Aden Gallery, an influential private gallery located in Washington, D.C., and among the first with an integrated stable of artists and patrons.
